The PoE ports can automatically detect and supply power to IEEE 802.3af/at-compliant Powered Devices (PDs). PoE electrical power is transmitted along with data in a single cable, allowing a network to expand where there are no power lines or outlets, to where you want to fix devices such as APs, IP cameras, or IP phones, etc. The SMCFS801P is easy to install and use, requiring no configuration. PoE Features The SMCFS801P provides power to attached devices, such as VoIP phones, wireless access points, surveillance cameras etc, all over existing Cat. 5 cables. The switch can provide 8/15.4/30 Watts through each port depending on device needs. The total PoE power budget for the switch is 105W. If attached devices draw over 105W, the switch provides a network function only. When using the PoE function, port LEDs indicate PoE power. The switch eliminates the need for individual power sources for devices in the network, saving on costs for power cables and avoiding power outlet availability issues.
